COACH PROFILES:

COACH LARRY BROWN

Brown brings an impressive resume to the protege program including head coach at Bryan High School where he won two 5-A State Championships; he also compiled impressive records as head coach at both Howard and South Plains College and Sam Houston State. Brown has international experience in Puerto Rico, as Coach of the Caracas Cocodrilos, and most recently has served as Technical Director for the Bahamas National Team.

COACH LARRY TIDWELL

Educator. Motivator. Fundraiser. Disciplinarian. Friend. Father figure. Larry Tidwell wears many different hats in his role as head women's basketball coach at Lamar University. The 36-year coaching veteran is serves as a special assistant to Lamar PResident Dr. James Simmons after a one-year stint as the athletic director. Tidwell has led the Lady Cardinals to 26 wins, the second most in school history, and for his efforts Tidwell was honored as the Texas Basketball Coaches Association Division I Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.

COACH TONY MAULDIN

In 1971, Mauldin began his coaching career as the boys' sports coach at Boerne Middle School. After two successful years he became the high school basketball coach. For his three years in Boerne, his high school team won a district title. Moving to Merkel, he won a district basketball title during his two years there. In1978 in his ninth year as a basketball coach at Morton, Texas, he could look back at eight district championships, and six years in a row advancing to the state tournament. His teams won three state championships.
After coaching at Western Texas Junior College for four years and five years at Abilene Christian University, he moved to Nairobi, Kenya, in East Africa and coached at a technical college, winning three national championships in the men's program and two in the ladies' program. After returning to the United States, he became the Lakeview Centennial High School coach, and his teams have made the playoffs five of his seven years there.

COACH HUTCHESON

Hutch has coached volleyball for 11 seasons. He started playing volleyball in 1969 on his high school varsity team. Through the years, he has played in Open and BB divisions. Hutch has attended the USA Volleyball CAP III and High Performance Coaches' Clinic at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He holds several USA Volleyball certifications including: IMPACT, CAP I, CAP II and CAP III certifications. He also holds the USA Volleyball IMPACT Clinician certification.
